First mini album 'Meanwhile' released

Reminiscing with younger sister Danielle of NewJeans

[THE FACT | Reporter Jung Byung-geun] Singer-songwriter Olivia Marsh, well known as the older sister of NewJeans (Currently NJZ) member Danielle, has expressed support for her sister who is currently in a contract dispute with ADOR.

Olivia Marsh, who released her first mini album 'Meanwhile' at noon on the 13th, conducted an interview at Warner Music Korea headquarters on the 4th. "I was living in Australia, but my mom and sister (Danielle) were in Korea, and I missed Korea, so I came here," she said, adding regarding her sister's dispute with ADOR, "I'm supporting and praying for my sister."

First making a name for herself as a composer in 2023, she debuted as a singer last October with her self-composed song '42'. '42' is a song Olivia Marsh wrote while reminiscing about lovely memories spent with her family during her childhood in her hometown of Australia. Her younger sister Danielle came to Korea first, and after spending time as a trainee, debuted with NewJeans in August 2022, receiving explosive love from fans.

Olivia Marsh said, "Since Danielle is my senior as an artist, she gives me a lot of advice and support. I'm happy that we can communicate since we work in the same field. We have similar taste in music too, so it's great whenever we talk. I'm still awkward with photo and video shoots, but she always tells me to believe in myself."

With both Olivia Marsh and her sister Danielle being singers, the possibility of collaboration remains open. Olivia Marsh expressed, "I really want to. I'm not sure about my sister, and we haven't talked about it, but if the opportunity arises, I'd love to. When we were young and went on trips, we have memories of humming and singing songs together in the backseat, so I hope we get the chance."

Olivia Marsh released her first mini album 'Meanwhile' at noon on the 13th. It contains a total of 5 tracks including double title tracks 'STRATEGY', 'BACKSEAT', along with 'WATERWORKS', '42', and 'PINA COLADA'. The 5 tracks were worked on during her time as a composer and fully embody her two-year journey of self-discovery.
